As America reached its 250th birthday, we had an incredible cause to celebrate. One of the landmarks of July 4, 2026, was that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) officially sunsetted, just as it had promised from the very beginning.
I have been reporting on this incredible agency on a weekly basis since its inception in January 2025. From day one, I’ve followed every post and repost from the official DOGE account, documenting its bold mission to cut waste, modernize government, and deliver real results for the American people. I have such deep respect for an agency that began its course in human history by declaring it would not need to exist forever.
Can you even imagine how many government agencies should be sunsetted? We have too much regulation, too much bureaucracy in the USA, and it just seems to grow bigger and bigger over time.
The beauty of DOGE was that it was a truly limited-government organization. It was designed from the start to solve problems, declare victory, and step aside. That alone made it my favorite government organization to ever exist in the history of this country.
While actively reading The Life of Greece by Will Durant, I’ve been reflecting deeply on how some of the most powerful and incredible civilizations rose to greatness through innovation, discipline, and bold leadership, only to fall or collapse under the weight of excess, bureaucracy, internal division, and lost vitality.
I believe Elon Musk sees these patterns clearly and has dedicated himself to protecting our extraordinary American civilization from rising too quickly only to follow the same tragic path of decline.
DOGE was one of his key efforts to safeguard that future, working alongside his companies like Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink, which are building the technological and exploratory foundations to keep America strong, innovative, and multi-planetary.
Elon poured his heart into creating this powerful initiative, bringing together some of the world’s brightest minds. He spent precious days in the capital, working in a very small, cramped office to achieve miraculous things. Our country was so blessed that this man stepped up to serve the American people in this way. I do not think we will see anything like it again in our lifetime, or in Elon’s.
He gave up valuable time at Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink. He endured hatred from liberals who tried to take down his companies with firebombs, threats, and relentless attacks. I personally was attacked just for driving a Cybertruck. I was yelled at, told to sell my Tesla, and even called a Nazi. But that was only a fraction of what Elon Musk endured while trying to help our nation. And he did a fantastic job.
Then, Elon bowed out gracefully, leaving DOGE in the capable hands of his team, the people I admire deeply. Standouts include:
- Edward “Big Balls” Coristine (@as400495), whose bold tech work helped root out fraud
- Marko Elez, a key young engineer who drove critical efficiency efforts
- Joe Gebbia (@jgebbia), who modernized federal retirement and design systems
- Steve Davis, Elon’s longtime right-hand man who effectively ran day-to-day operations
- Aram Moghaddassi (@aramog), the engineer who tackled Social Security fraud and modernization
- Amy Gleason (@ThePatientsSide), who served as acting administrator
- and the many other bright minds (including Anthony Armstrong, Brad Smith, Tom Krause, and more) who carried the mission forward with dedication and competence.
Seven of the Most Incredible Things DOGE Accomplished:
DOGE delivered efficiency. Here are seven standout achievements from my weekly reporting:
- Massive Savings for Taxpayers: DOGE claimed approximately $215 billion in savings through asset sales, contract and lease cancellations, fraud detection, grant terminations, regulatory reforms, and workforce adjustments. That’s roughly $1,335 per taxpayer. This is real money returned to the people funding this government.
- Historic Workforce Reductions: Through hiring freezes, buyouts, early retirements, and targeted reductions, the federal civilian workforce shrank significantly (hundreds of thousands of positions impacted). This was the largest peacetime reduction in history, tackling bloat without compromising core services.
- Thousands of Wasteful Contracts Terminated: Over 13,000 contracts were canceled or renegotiated, saving billions in duplicative or unnecessary spending, from software licenses to underused services.
- Fraud and Improper Payments Cracked Down: DOGE teams, including young talent like Edward Coristine, exposed and eliminated fraud in programs like Social Security and beyond, protecting seniors and ensuring funds went where they were truly needed.
- Government Technology Modernization: By renaming and revamping the U.S. Digital Service into the U.S. DOGE Service, they pushed software updates, better IT systems, and digital efficiencies across agencies—laying groundwork for a leaner, faster government.
- Lease and Grant Cancellations: Hundreds of underused office leases and thousands of grants (including duplicative or ideological ones) were cut, freeing up resources and reducing the federal footprint.
- A Model of Self-Limiting Government: By building in its own sunset date and sticking to it, coinciding perfectly with America’s 250th birthday, DOGE proved that government can be temporary, effective, and accountable. It inspired conversations about reforming countless other agencies that never seem to end.
These accomplishments didn’t come without challenges or criticism, but from my lens as a longtime follower, nurse, Tesla owner, and truth-seeker, DOGE represented a rare injection of common sense, innovation, and courage into Washington DC.
Throughout this journey, I created an entire website and archive where I’ve been documenting DOGE’s progress since its inception in January 2025. It’s been an honor to chronicle this chapter of American history week after week, cutting through the noise and sharing the facts with my audience.
As DOGE sunsets, its spirit lives on in the competent hands of those who remain, in the savings delivered to taxpayers, and in the renewed call for limited, efficient government.
Elon deserves a profound tribute for his selfless service on DOGE and his tireless work across his companies to strengthen and preserve American civilization for generations to come.
In a time when so many forces pull toward decline, his vision offers hope for a continued rise grounded in curiosity, adventure, and abundance. Thank you, Elon.
